Like most men, when Tyler came into the store he knew he wanted a beautiful ring for his soon-to-be fiance, Karley, but did not know much about diamonds or the ring buying process at all. He was planning a surprise proposal, so he was on his own.

Tyler did come prepared with a few images of rings and diamond styles that Karley described to him that she loved over the years. He also may or may not have stolen some ideas from her saved Pinterest boards.

Another factor was he knew what price range he wanted to stay in, which helped narrow his options. One of the most important things you can do no matter what ring you are buying is to first determine what your budget is prior to seriously looking! Of course, we know you want to buy the most amazing ring that she deserves, but you also have to be practical and smart. Trust us, she wants to know she is marrying a wise man.

1. Education on Diamonds

We start at the 4 C’s - cut, color, clarity, carat. Every diamond is unique, and there are a variety of factors that affect the price of a diamond. The most important of the 4Cs is cut because it has the greatest influence on a diamond's sparkle. The second most important of the 4Cs is color, which is graded in terms of how white or colorless a diamond is. The most critical aspect with Color is to determine if it appears colorless in relation to its setting. Diamond clarity is the assessment of small imperfections on the surface and internally. For Clarity, our primary recommendation is to ensure the diamond is eye clean, and that inclusions are not interfering with light reflection. The term carat actually refers to the diamond's total weight and not its size. While Carat weight is an element to consider when buying a diamond, the overall appearance and brilliance should carry more importance.​​

2. Ordered 4 Diamonds from NY to choose from - Used our customer first mindset

We didn't have the type of ring Tyler was wanting, so we had to think outside of the box. With the help of our vendor in New York, we were able to get 4 options delivered on the next business day for Tyler to choose from. 3. Needed the Ring in Less than 10 Days

Here was the biggest hurdle! Tyler decided on doing a very romantic proposal aroundThanksgiving, but did not factor in how the ring/diamond that he was searching for may not be in the store to walk away with on the same day. Luckily, we have amazing vendors nationwide, but we also have two jewelers that work every week to set rings and make sure our turnaround time is as fast as possible. That was crucial in Tyler’s case! We got a beautiful ring shipped from New York, set, sized, and on his fiance’s finger in 10 days.
